Overview

Help build Australia’s
world-class cyber industry.

CyberPath is a government-backed pilot program to build a standardised, inclusive and highly skilled cyber security workforce.

Australia needs greater protection from an ever-evolving cyber threat. CyberPath brings together industry, government and education to standardise career and education pathways, skills requirements and recognition frameworks for the cyber security industry.

CyberPath is funded by the Department of Home Affairs and led by a consortium of tech organisations.

Australia’s cyber challenge isn’t just skills, it’s transparency.

Nothing hampers business quite like uncertainty. Yet the cyber security industry operates without a clear and consistent framework for skills, pathways and recognition.

  • Cyber roles and expectations vary widely between sectors.
  • Skills are often learned but not formally recognised.
  • Capability is uneven across organisations and supply chains
  • Knowledge exists, but is fragmented across silos

CyberPath is an opportunity for the industry to strengthen through collaboration.

Strengthening Australia’s cyber capability

A coordinated approach to closing skills gaps, driving diversity, building public confidence, and aligning industry with education to create a resilient, future-ready cyber workforce.

Close skills gaps

Address critical skills shortages with a quality-assessed cyber security workforce capable of managing the increasingly complex cyber threat.

Create clear standards

Build business certainty and public trust by providing a framework for the assessment, development and recognition of cyber security skills and experience.

Drive diversity and inclusion

Highlight alternative pathways that increase employee mobility across and into the industry, strengthening the pipeline of talent and diversity and inclusion.

Establish career pathways

Align industry and education around career and education pathways that include formal education and non-traditional learning to reduce barriers to entry.

CyberPath Town Hall Series

The CyberPath Town Hall Series is a national event program for cyber professionals, employers, educators, students and stakeholders throughout the cyber sector. Each event was an opportunity to contribute to the CyberPath pilot program and help build Australia’s world-class cyber security industry. This series has now closed and outputs being compiled by AISA to share in due course.
